Bestseller of the Week - Hydrafacial, Oxygeneo Facial, and LHR

Over time, due to the kind of lifestyle we have or sometime lack of adequate skin care and also due to the increasing age and hence slowing down of our internal systems, the skin experiences a lot of changes too. Most commonly, the collagen production reduces and also the ability of the skin to recuperate
from any external or internal trauma reduces too. The result is aging, dull skin which may have pigmentation or scars or any other person specific
skin issue. Anyone who thinks that their skin quality has gone down over time or is looking for a routine skin care regime can go for skin rejuvenation.

Most of the procedures involved aren’t invasive and hence no special precautions are required before finally going for skin rejuvenation.

Laser skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive laser treatment that uses light energy to:

  • Gently stimulate natural collagen growth, which will reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Restore the skin from sun damage (large pores and pigmentation)
  • Remove dark lesions and sun spots
  • Remove tattoos
Fractional Lasers work by interacting with the skin to produce Microthermal zones (MTZ) of injury and heat. A very intense beam of light is passed through the skin at the dermal level. The skin becomes very hot and stimulates the cells that produce collagen & elastin. Also the laser is attracted to colored lesions like broken blood vessels or age spots.
During the treatment a gentle laser light is used that passes light through the upper layer of skin. This laser heat stimulates collagen growth deep beneath your skin. The effects of the laser treatment will continue even after your treatment and you will see the difference once the fine lines will be filled with new collagen. The heat of the laser will also have an effect on the discolored parts of your face as these pigment areas are broken up and reabsorbed into the skin.
Although you may see some immediate improvement in your skin, results tend to show more gradually. It is recommended to have at least 4-6 treatments spaced at 3-5 weeks apart for best results. Many choose to come back for touch-up sessions after that.

  • Accident scar – Face / Body
  • Burn Scars
  • Keloid / Hypertrophic scars
  • Freckles

As the skin ages, there is a gradual reduction in the amount of hyaluronic acid(HA). The drop in HA starts at around the age of 18-20 years, and can be a major contributing factor in later years to a loss of skin elasticity and formation of lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid has, for a number of year, been used to fill out deeper lines and wrinkles, or to enhance lips.

A relatively new technique using a specially prepared version of hyaluronic acid for Mesotherapy linked to a specific injection technique allows an experienced practitioner to directly inject hyaluronic acid into larger areas of skin to help improve skin quality and hydration. It improves the condition of the dermis and stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and the body’s own hyaluronic acid.

It also enhances the body’s defense against free radicals, thereby improving cell function and contributing to a fresher and more youthful skin appearance. At Kosmoderma, HA injections are also used to rejuvenate acne scarred skin prior to Fractional laser treatment.

The other treatments that fall under Skin Rejuvenation category include PRP and Tissue Tightening. If you wish to know more about these, you can access the links here and here respectively

Is the treatment safe?
The treatment is approved by the US-FDA. The light produced by the laser is in the infrared end of the light spectrum as opposed to the ultraviolet end. This type of light is non-carcinogenic (non-cancer causing) and also the US-FDA certification is a proof of the safety.

Does the treatment hurt?
Everyone’s tolerance for pain is different. As treatment settings vary according to individual skin types, so do the levels of discomfort. We are the only clinic to provide the option of a 20 % topical anesthetic hence reducing the discomfort level. The details on the same are discussed during the consult with the doctor.
That being said, most patients find the treatment to be within their limits of tolerance.
